Eclipse Veterinary Software Limited is a dedicated development team producing innovative software for equine and veterinary clients worldwide.
All the applications developed by Eclipse can run just as well on any standard PC running Windows 10 or 11, or an Apple desktop or laptop computer. Many Eclipse practices have a mixture of both, depending on the user’s preference or nature of the work carried out in each case. The way they are designed means they run quickly and natively on both platforms. With the Eclipse Mobile app, iPads and iPhones extend remote working beyond the physical boundaries of the practice out to the field, whether online or not.
In addition to Eclipse for equine veterinary practice, other successful projects include the design and development of an extensive bespoke sales auction system used by Tattersalls, first in Newmarket and then extending to Fairyhouse in Ireland and, in due course, Ascot and Cheltenham (now Sandown). The BASIS system interfaces with Weatherbys pedigree information, enables online entries for vendors, produces the catalogue, runs the day of sale, and handles billing. The Tattersalls iPhone/iPad app enables vendors and purchasers to keep track of everything happening in the auction ring from near or far (and it is a long walk to the far end of Park Paddocks!)
In latter years, Weatherbys have had a new bloodstock system developed, keeping track of race performances for the thousands of thoroughbreds registered with them. Weatherbys have been recording the arrival and breeding of every racing thoroughbred in the UK and Ireland in their General Stud Book since 1791, though updating the information hopefully doesn’t require copper-plate writing and a quill pen these days…
The majority of our work, however, is with equine veterinary practices, with the development of Eclipse PMS and Eclipse PACS, each of which can be purchased as standalone products or as one completely integrated system. Our aim is to produce software which requires little training on the part of those using it, but is innovative and robust behind the scenes where modern database tools can make performance and reliability impressive.
Eclipse Mobile was originally added to the suite in 2013 and is in widespread use by ambulatory and hospital vets, saving time and money. Billing information can be captured quickly and clinical histories are available to vets wherever their journey takes them to see an animal in need of treatment. An improved version, Eclipse Mobile 2, is in the process of being tested and released this year.
Led by Brian Whitt, the Eclipse team are able to understand how to make elegant applications which are simple to learn and use. Our software is always designed in conjunction with those with the best view of what’s needed – the people who are actually going to use it! If we can help you with your hospital/practice management systems or PACS imaging, lab testing or pharmacy stock control, or you have a new project you would like us to discuss with you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
